Michelle Obama was serving grace, grit, and style on a first class platter when she walked through those capital doors in her monochromatic power suit on Inauguration day. With a gasp of fresh air, American women everywhere felt that fashion power upstage the event in a Cabernet power suit. I might have gotten a little too dressed up for my visit downtown today, but I’m feeling myself on Inauguration week. This look is inspired by Vice President-Elect Kamala Harris.
I will forever remember the iconic white suit she wore, on November 7th, when she told the children of our country that “regardless of your gender, our country has sent you a clear message: Dream with ambition, lead with conviction, and see yourself in a way that others might not see you, simply because they’ve never seen it before.” She is a true boss lighting the way for women of color in this country, and I’m so here for it, and I’m here for this white suit period.
